Dr. Sandmann has a very good bed side manner…he doesn’t beat around the bush so you know exactly what’s going on from start to finish. I think that’s very important with woman’s health.
What are Ovarian Cysts?
The ovaries are two small organs located on both sides of a woman’s uterus. An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac which can be found in or on the ovaries. For some patients, these cysts can be painless, not knowing they have a cyst. If experiencing any discomfort or pain, Dr. Sandmann has the expertise and experience to properly diagnose and treat an ovarian cyst.
What Causes Ovarian Cysts?
Some of the most common causes of ovarian cysts may include:
- Hormone Problems or even drugs used by physicians to help with ovulation
- Endometriosis
- Pregnancy
- Severe Pelvic Infections
Symptoms of Ovarian Cysts
Common symptoms include:
- Pain in the abdomen or pelvis, sometimes radiating to the back
- A feeling or bloating or perhaps indigestion
- Painful sexual intercourse
- An urge to have a bowel movement, or even pain during bowel movements
- Nausea and vomiting
Treating Ovarian Cysts
Treatments for ovarian cysts may depend on the likely cause of the cyst, and the symptoms a patient is experiencing. When treating an ovarian cyst, Dr. Sandmann may decide to simply observe the cyst and monitor for any potential changes. Based on the examination, he may recommend surgically removing the cyst. Only a proper evaluation can determine the treatment course for an ovarian cyst.
